Worldwide cooperation for "The colour of the Rain" needed

We finished the music today. But it is a pitty , it is all synthetic. I would like a few of you to join us with the song. We wrote different lines, and if your computer can read "sibelius files" i can send it through email. I changed the instrument - arrangement to get people of all continents to this song , so the Sitar (India), Marimba (ZA) Celesta, Violin, Contrabass (Europe/US/?) If you have any idea to put other instruments, i am happy to hear which.

For now in the discussion The modifyed Lyrics , The Melody

THE COLOUR OF PIZZA

Moin, Conny,

well, my first approach did not quite make the grade :-( In stead of a hefty Kudu steak it's once more only frozen pizza - yet I attached for you a little first slice of the

"Pizza HopeHasNoColour alla Quattro Stagioni".

Bon appétit!

Hi Carsten,

the first piece of pizza is really good. I am looking forward what will be the four seasons. At the moment i thought we should make a CD with all the finished versions of "The colour of the rain" and than sell if for some music projekts with kids also here in Germany. So - Rain has no colour - and "Hope has no end".

Conny
Moin, Conny,

2nd try, and hopefully a better one.

I now made a short demo over your introduction, scripting your (almost) original first violin voive over and above a kind of counterpointed string arrangement that imitate your "Hope Has No Colour"-maintheme, modulating to a major key repetition with "hopeful ending".

Now what do you think which way to go? I could offer either to rearrange it completely that way, or I could try to orchestrate Vladimir's original score with some more up-to-date orchestra sounds.

What would be your choice?

Hi Carsten, i think i like the brathändl version better than the pizza, although i am half italian. What about our Football song. They try to find now someone to do this. Shall we restart our sleeping "Beauty"? i mean the "Sitting round the tablemountain". Has it a reason you call it allways my "Hope has no colour"? The right name should be "The coloru of the rain". Good night

Conny
...well, the reason must be something between my head and my brain :-)

(oder: "Es kommt nicht auf die Hose an, sondern auf das Herz, das darin schlägt").

Indeed sometimes I think about completing the All-Stars Football Song all by myself. The only problem is, that I'm still missing the first-hand information about South African soccer, i.e. the kind of sound and rythm during a match, fan tunes, important chanting words, etc. For my eye, it may become a beautiful song, but a somehow incomplete one, because it would lack authentency... A "Two Stars" project is not an "All Stars Project".

In fact "who" is trying to find one to do it? I thought that no one (besides you) would care any more, or that our Guitar World Record organizers would make an own "closed" version (when I asked them to join, communication ended abruptly).... Lately I get the impression that "core business" of Sawubona has turned it's back completely on public participators and that all official music action will someday suddenly emerge from a Stuttgart production studio, with official "Label" pro's only (anyway, maybe really the best approach to get a well selling donation CD in the end) - well I'm not the only one who thinks that way. So that's why I concentrate on friends here who have proven to interact and communicate, and I'd rather pick the Factory poems than the official lyrics, because the poets will care about it.

After all - that's why I think the beautiful melody and lyrics of your rain/hope song are first to be completed. I'd really like to help Vladimir and you, you'll just have to say what you would like me to do - you shall order, I shall deliver :-)

Hey Ihr beiden, Carsten und Conny,

sounds good, the first takes. I like the song.
If I listen, I can hear a fat guitar-riff coming in, to set a contrast to the classical-Sound of the pizza- and the brathaendl-sound. But this is just an idea.
Sorry, I still cannot join you because my equipment is not ready. But I love to listen...
keep on groovin'.... :o)
Liebe Grüße,
Petra
Hi to you and all listeners,

i now load up the last mp3 Vladimir gave to me and a midi file to work on for who like to join us.
If you like to try to sing to the "Soundbase" and record it i would be delighted. i put also a pdf of a workshop Gina Sanders, NZ-Soprano and friend of mine is giving in Stuttgart in June. She i ready to record the song together with musicians and pupils in NZ, Auckland and then mail it to me. I will ask her to make a video of the recording session. She will also perform "The colour of the rain" on the Concert in June.

Hope to hear news from you all

Moin, Conny,

just another fast offer - a sandwich version with salad and a light dressing - Vladimir's original arrangement in another sound orchestration - just for a demo. Drums have not been adjusted completely yet - note layout appears to be different, some edits are pending..

As I said - any meal will be delivered home!

not so bad, but "ein bischen übersteuert" in diversen Passagen. I really think we should do a complete CD of the different recordings of "The colour of the rain" . what do you think?
I am tired, allways happy to realise there is at least one who is colaborating.

Conny
Moin, Conny,

thank you very much for your comment.

Dunno if it is distorted - I think the oboe should be tamed in articulation - anyway this was only a fast re-instrumentation as a demo which direction the sound could go.

IMHO, I don't think we should collect versions by default - better we should try to share forces to make one "full featured" version instead of n+1 versions that (only) almost make the grade. Everyone of us has a special talent the others do not have - You have sweet melody ideas, Vladimir is perfect in keeping the arrangement transparent and light-weight (in a positive sense), and my string arrangements are more authentic and could be played by a real ensemble. These are the building blocks we should combine, plus that guitar idea that Petra stated (maybe Billy?). What do you think?

If not - while experimenting with different versions I had a lillte idea (lasting only for a few seconds). We could use your song as a workshop how to arrange to one melody - I almost published the strings with comments how to do it. Alas this of course is much work, and we should be sure if there is an audience worth the hassle. Till then, I'd prefer the "normal" collab approach as stated above.

If yes - I suggest you take over guidance and tell your preferations, so we could prepare and deliver.

What do you think?

:-) Carsten (-:
Hi Carsten,

you mean a workshop over the internet? Gina arranged it in NZ and will record it with pupils and musicians in arround ten days. Then she will perform the song, i am very proud of this, on the workshop i arranged for her . I will upload the flyer file so you can make some publicity too. Who knows, there are people who like to do a holiday week in Stuttgart and join the workshop.

So happy easter to you and your family

cd review

by Norman DarwenThe first four tracks encapsulate Arkansas-born Billy Jones. ...a wicked, raw, live version of Albert King's 'Personal Manager', 'my Hometown', a bleak, stark portrayal of the ghetto set to a busy but laid-back and bluesy musical commentary that epitomizes what some have defined as his "gangsta bluez" (...though it is perhaps even better on 'Ain't Good Lookin'), the rocking, rollicking, down-home, and subtly Howling Wolf inflected 'Blues Comes Callin'' and the bluesy/ reggae…See More
