Bluegrass Parkway

We aren’t so far from each other
The rhythms are our destinies
So on to not forgotten travels
And sights for sore eyes to see

You are not so far away
I’m on this bluegrass parkway
And I’m almost part way home
I’m lonesome but I’m not alone
Blue Ridge Mountains and a telephone
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me
- Rhythm instrumental ---------------------------- ALL
Grapes seem to taste the same as another
No different in the one or the other
Tasting bitter sweet-sweet wine
Reminds me of my grandmothers vines
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me

You are not so far away
I’m on this bluegrass parkway
And I’m almost part way home
I’m lonesome but I’m not alone
Blue Ridge Mountains and a telephone
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me
- Instrumental lead break ------------------------ALL
Leaves changing like the name of my Dobro (cool Dobro lick 1)
The new ones seem to go and resonate (cool lick 2)
So on to not forgotten travels
The rhythms now are our fates

You are not so far away
I’m on this bluegrass parkway
And I’m almost part way home
I’m lonesome but I’m not alone
Blue Ridge Mountains and a telephone
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me
- Instrumental lead break ------------------------ALL
We all have a good reputation
For reptiles and picking mandolins (cool mandolin lick)
And playing on this bluegrass parkway
For all our bluegrass friends
Before our journey starts …………….. The tempo speeds up here enough to go right back into the chorus
And after it will end
We’ll all be part way home again …………….. This will be the turn around in the key. Up a half step drop a third? I know you
Picking with a grin …………….. Know what to do to make this fit to go back to the chorus

You are not so far away ……….……… Back to standard key
I’m on this bluegrass parkway
And I’m almost part way home
I’m lonesome but I’m not alone
Blue Ridge Mountains and a telephone
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me

Grandma’s vineyard and all our homes ….…. The ending tag lines are in a fast tempo
Blue Ridge Mountains and telephones
Seeing is believing and believe you me
Sights for eyes and ears to see
I’m lonesome but I’m not alone
Blue Ridge Mountains and a telephone
This wine tastes bitter sweet
This bluegrass parkway sore eyes and me

I placed my hands on this page
To send across the seas
And now you hold it closely
For only your eyes to read

The circle is unbroken
And words sometimes breathe
And breaths do pierce our souls
When they are believed

Blessings come from gifts of thoughts
But not for want or need
A simple thought has no cost
And is free for you to keep

Hope does come when we smile
And even when we weep
And what is written between the lines
Visits us while we dream

So take this page with your hands
And hold it up to be
Inside your heart
your vessels art
Your life long destiny

sawubona to all!

that's my first time, and I'm typing like a child. it's new and amazing for me.

My first "selfmade"-song will be coming soon. I try to compose a song for "Good Hope". I'll do my very best.

Regards

Juan

@Lucky: Indeed I am very glad you accepted the invitation - because to my eye, we all non-South-Africans (who never had an opportunity to visit your country) need some insight views about your country and your people. As I see it, it is somehow dangerous to judge a different culture from "TV-knowledge" only - too many clichees and prejudices...
For example, I am very interested in your view on above discussion "Everything happy in South Africa?".
Where do you draw the line between sorrow and hope, between faithful optimism and an urgent call for change?

Yeah, Billy, I think learning will be the biggest part of all. Even within one single culture you often find struggle among artists having opposite philosophies that won't match the easy way. By now we already appear to have musicians from USA, SA, India Europe etc., many from very different styles, and maybe in the end you will hear it all on one CD that should sell in many countries to gather donations.
All I know is that I urgently need a guitar like your's in some of my songs, so I can concentrate more on songwriting, arrangement and concepts. Like the Beatles said: "Get Together"!

Hello Carsten and team. As you can see from my web site I have been donating my music for about two years. This all started as a compitition with the IBM Battle of the band. I soon discovered that I could use the PODCAST tool to promote my own music. At first it was to advertize the fact that I had given music to the Battle of the band. Over time I added all types of stiles of the music I create. It is difficult for me to get with other people and play and to some degree you can hear that in my music. My aim is be able to share music with you and see if we can learn and create something from nothing. If music I create could be used to help someone in Africa it would be a bleassing.

cd review

by Norman DarwenThe first four tracks encapsulate Arkansas-born Billy Jones. ...a wicked, raw, live version of Albert King's 'Personal Manager', 'my Hometown', a bleak, stark portrayal of the ghetto set to a busy but laid-back and bluesy musical commentary that epitomizes what some have defined as his "gangsta bluez" (...though it is perhaps even better on 'Ain't Good Lookin'), the rocking, rollicking, down-home, and subtly Howling Wolf inflected 'Blues Comes Callin'' and the bluesy/ reggae…See More
