Born in 1964 near Heidelberg, Germany, my father gave me some tools to get in touch to music. Not too late, beeing 14, my first step guided me to a christian band. Learning while doing, we performed many gigs round here in Germany in churches, parish-halls, schools.
At the end of High-School, i found my way to funk-music - but lost my band (they didn´t want that kind of beat). Trying to imitate Mark King of Level 42, my right thumb was more than twice bloody...
I moved to the south of germany and while completing my studies of engineering, i found some new musicians and we tried hard to get back on stage.
But as ist is - life goes on - i moved to Frankfurt for a new job & new love.
And lost that guys of Toolbox.
Now there is a good collection of guitars in the guestroom, cubasis the best electronic friend and utube a big, big pot of music & music-video on demand.
Starting from 1995, i travelled many, many time through South Africa.
Mostly the south- & north-east - Cape Town, at first, just some month ago.
I´ve travelled through Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Namibia, hiked in Kwazulu-, Limpopo- and Highveld Regions, climbed at Hilton, Waterval Boven, Harrissmith.
And i´ve seen the growth of burial sites every year all over the land.
At the beginning of my travel, every weekend, thousands of people joined in festivities, soccer-games, parties...
But now, you can see them on weekends travelling from one funeral to the next.
A tearfulness is around all.
Apartheid has gone, a virus came in.
As a normal overseas, i like to help, but don´t really know how - despite all travelling & friends in RSA.
How did you come across this Community?
I was just 10m away at our Hitachi boot, heard that guitar, played by a young guy, went across the sidewalk and saw this guitar on the IBM Cebit boot, then Dieter Huober came...
Thanks for that short but significant moment.
Your favorite music
It´s changing every week...
I still love funk, but blues is my passion, get tears in my eyes, if i listen to Bayete & Jabu Khanyile, need trance & chill for spinning, i´m addicted to the second aera of ZZ-Top, growed up with Beatles & Deep Purple...
