..top secret..ha-ha !! .. The advantage of having started out with very little (hardware or software) is that I learnt to be resourceful.. whatever I find interesting (or free) get's used. I love NI's Absynth but IMHO one has to spend a…

Moin Clyde, I like that "Don't Dare Move" Mix - I wished I was able to let some my music sound in such a modern style like yours. That's obviously something beyond Faithless. What's your main sound/synth sources? If I…

...thanks for some little insight into your secret world of sound. :-) From my point of view it's not that important to hide the ingredients, for I am always very stunned how different the outcomes are if some musicians are left to the same task with the same devices. After all skill cannot be replaced by technology. Best example is how different the original Sawubona song versions have become from the same original lyrics.

I claim to be much more a song writer and conceptionist than a sound designer - that's why I pretty much rely on preset libraries and preprogrammed morphings than on oscillators and multimode filter cascades. On the other hand I'm trying to stay independent in style - so my music varies over some range as you might already have noticed.

Plus you are right, we don't need unlimited ressources to make music. For a poem of Kenya's Babu I once recorded that "Christmas Always" Song (see my track No. 22)with free software and free sounds only - and recorded the vocals through a plain webcam mic. I found the result had a little bit of that charme that Simon&Garfunkel recordings had in the 60's and early 70's.

Could you be interested in some free coorperation to exchange some tracks for remix?

Hello Clyde,
great songs, sophisticated sound meshings and interesting pattern.
Yep, Carsten is right. Something beyond Faithless and beyond mainstream.
cheers, Andreas

What's your main sound/synth sources? If I should guess, I'd say some stuff from NI's Reaktor could be in there? Or is it all clever remixes of loops and FX?

Hello Clyde,
welcome to MUSIC WITHOUT FRONTIERS!
Great to have such experience musician on board. Your profile is nearly congruent with my interests! I had the pleasure to present SAWUBONA with Steinberg on CeBIT this year.
Check out "www.digitalmusician.net"! There you can share music and ideas, too!
I am looking forward to your contribution.
cheers, Andreas

cd review

by Norman DarwenThe first four tracks encapsulate Arkansas-born Billy Jones. ...a wicked, raw, live version of Albert King's 'Personal Manager', 'my Hometown', a bleak, stark portrayal of the ghetto set to a busy but laid-back and bluesy musical commentary that epitomizes what some have defined as his "gangsta bluez" (...though it is perhaps even better on 'Ain't Good Lookin'), the rocking, rollicking, down-home, and subtly Howling Wolf inflected 'Blues Comes Callin'' and the bluesy/ reggae…See More
