Hm... As I said, I think, you did really good work with "cup of beer".
So I don´t know, what I should do better, besides the Pad Sound.
Actually, I haven´t much time now. I have to finish the radio play at first and this will take much time and then I will beginn a praktikum in a studio.
OK, no need to argue. Of course I respect your view.
I wonder if it might work the other way? I guess my "Have a Cup of Beer" could really improve when someone like you came along....
Interested to do a remix yourself?
Maybe it is not neccessary to bounce every track. I usually do it in groups, e.g. Lead-Voice, Choir, Basses, Drums/Perc, Pads etc. Normally I have them already on mixer subgroups.
As I Samplitude user i have both - easy bouncing export and an "Analogue Suite" with optical compressor sim, tape & valve-amp sim, transient forming etc. Which still were not the things I was thinking of at first. I thought about the replacement or deeper manipulation of some sounds. Just some experimental things you do when doing a real remix. "A little less conversation, a little more action please." :-)))
After all, good music is not a matter of equipment or software - we just need a way to bring our ideas to other people's ear in an accurate way.
OK, I'm glad you also see it that way.
I don't like those people that need a "drawer" for everything and everyone - suffering myself very much from that, since once I apply a vocoder nobody beleaves anymore I can sing etc. etc. & vice versa.
I think maybe we could do something about your bass. To my ear, the voices have some warmth (good mic??), but the background has not.
If you could slice your song into tracks and upload it, I could give it a try...
Hi, Dominik - if I were you, I would not care about the "unplugged" thing. Which famous pop artist does really do 100% unplugged performances today? From my opinion, of course they have to put up rules and criteria for a contest - the side effect is they limit musical styles - like yours!.
=> Don't worry about the contest! To my eye it is much more fun to use the collaboration platform than to go for a prize on the contest platform. That's why I have withdrawn my "Perpetrator" which they had put into the launch of the contest, because I would rather watch what the community will do with such a song. The community platform is "unlimited" by style, and a way of music production that has not been there before. How amazing it would be to upload your song and watch it grow and evolute to something else.
The sad thing up to now: Almost everyone seems to be after the prize at the moment - but I hope this will change once it is through.
So just join Andreas, Roubina, Lucky, Juan, Brian and Bill and exchange ideas to grow something bigger!
By the way: Good song - your style has really been missing here. And I would have some suggestions to it, :-) of course :-)
Now, all the stress is over. I am back and here you can hear my song.
I´ve read that for the contest the song had to be an unplugged one but I don´t care. Producing was much fun and actually, I can´t make unplugged music :-)
Moin, Dominik,
thank you for your kind response.
I'm back from holiday abroad and - right - your HdM Media night must be through, so walking in my own shoes, I immediately have to pose these questions:
1) Where is "Unify"? I'm really keen on the song, and how the impact was on your presentation.
2) Do you have any idea on how to "professionalize" my draft for "Cup of Beer"? E.g. my wife is not happy with the pad sounds, still I failed to find a valid replacement that still is "modern" but has reference to an inpleasant township environment.
Cheerio, Carsten.
Moin, Dominik,
I just finished "Have a Cup of Beer" draft which is uploaded now.
Can't wait for your comment for 2 reasons:
1) I tried to move it a little bit "in your direction".
2) You will also hear the new mic, it's a Rode NT2-A which indeed sound much more open than my old stage mic.
Thanks for advice. Carsten
sorry that I cannot be more specific. Actually, I have no experience with these mics. All I can say is that the mic, in my oppinion is the most importent element in the chain of recording.
What I can say is, that you won't really need a double membran mic.
A cardoid is sufficient for singing and the other characteristics are not the real ones because electrically generated. The TLM looks really good, but I know - the price. Nevertheless you have to hear it. And decide then. Good luck and enjoy reading tests :-)
