So, what will this project end like:
a) Commercial music for the world wide average taste
b) Highly cultural stuff for the world wide average experts
c) Both of them: Highly cultural things disguised as commercial music - for the world wide average mock turtle soup

That's 100% OK for me - there is definitely nothing wrong or contradictory to cultivate culture that also sells as commerce - in the best case with positive side effects like global communication & understanding. What could be wrong with that? But my question was motivated by something else: The concrete result - a CD. What kind of result will come to the ear of customer when the CD is played: To put it to extremes: On the one side you can have highly commercially successful music (like Modern Talking or all those casting show zombies) that might be quoted in Wikipedia of Year 2030 as "super successful trash". On the other hand, you also could have something like modern Classic: Those (comparably few) enthusiasts and experts may be overwhelmed by the art, but the broader public won't understand neither buy it. After all - in my opinion - the balance between culture and commerce might be the real point: What influence on the result will be given to public voters, the jury, the record company, the academic experts, the Sawubona community itself?

Does not culture mean: 'make use of the world by human collaboration'? And if you 'cultivate' something, sometimes there is a profit. Be it spiritual or monetary.

In a way I see this project differently from you.

We are encouraging artistic collaboration on the net, showing that technology can corntibute to global communication and understanding.

But that's only me :)

cd review

by Norman DarwenThe first four tracks encapsulate Arkansas-born Billy Jones. ...a wicked, raw, live version of Albert King's 'Personal Manager', 'my Hometown', a bleak, stark portrayal of the ghetto set to a busy but laid-back and bluesy musical commentary that epitomizes what some have defined as his "gangsta bluez" (...though it is perhaps even better on 'Ain't Good Lookin'), the rocking, rollicking, down-home, and subtly Howling Wolf inflected 'Blues Comes Callin'' and the bluesy/ reggae…See More
