On Demand Community Award - Championship 2009 / 2010Within the One World competition of the German Federal President Horst Köhler the best four school projects supported by IBM employees have been awarded at the CeBIT 2010. All these projects are dealing with the question of sustainability.
Together with their teachers a delegation of students from the Realschule Feuerbach, the Franz-Meyers Gymnasium Mönchengladbach, the Otto-Hahn Gynasium Böblingen and the Max-Planck Gymnasium Düsseldorf presented their projects to the press and interested visitors.
Because of the great ideas and the dedication of all involved parties I would like to introduce the projects also to you.
The first project is called
"Madagaskar AG" (Realschule Feuerbach) and is the continuation of a private initiative of a former school director. With different actions the students are collecting money to support their twin school École St. Anne in Madagasker. In 2010 the internet access of St. Anne offers new chances of cultural exchange.

The second project
"Palmöl-Fabrik" (Franz-Meyers Gymnasium Mönchengladbach) describes a smart concept of water management for a „Palmöl-Fabrik“ in Offinso (Ghana).

With a radio play the project
"Listen Up" (Otto-Hahn Gymnasium Böblingen) is fighting against child labor and for the chance of school attendance.
"LICHTzeichen aus Düsseldorf" is supporting different social projects in Africa through donations. For example the building of a kindergarten and a nursing school. LICHTzeichen also supports projects through personal work on location.
